Tasting Chocolate

Group Tasting Chocolate
How much do you know about tasting chocolate? Just like with fine wine, the taste of fine chocolate actually has many different complexities and levels of flavor.  Also just like wine, many aspects of how the chocolate was made affect the final product. For instance, there is a difference between chocolates that come from beans grown in different regions of the world. Also the details of how the cacoa trees are grown, the timing and method used in the picking, drying, and roasting process and of course the blend and percentage of cacao have an affect on the flavor.  Like scotch, there are single-origin chocolates as well as blends.

There are many ways that one can learn about different chocolate and enjoy its unique flavors. There are chocolate tasting organizations and chocolate of the month clubs that offer new chocolates each month.

An activity that many enjoy is the hosting of a chocolate tastingparty. It is always fun to try new chocolates that you have nevertried. There is a lot of information available that would help you host your own chocolate tasting. However, I have found that hiring a chocolate expert who can share his or her knowledge with you can really create a great experience that all of your guests will enjoy and remember for a long time. I am compiling a list of chocolate experts that I recommend for hosting chocolate tastings.

In order to fully appreciate your chocolate tasting experience, it may be beneficial to know the history of chocolate. It also would be beneficial to know about the different types of chocolate.
