Health Benefits of Chocolate

Eating ChocolateThe Aztecs knew about the health benefits of chocolate. Therefore, although we mainly think of chocolate as a candy now, it is not surprising to find out that medical researchers are discovering many potential health benefits of chocolate.

Research has shown that the most health benefits come from dark chocolate. There is also information about the antioxidants found in chocolate.

In contrast to the benefits of chocolate, there are widespread beliefs that there are health concerns associated with chocolate. One of the fears concerns the myth that chocolate causes acne. Also, many people fear of having or developing a chocolate allergy. There is also an incorrect belief that there is a large amount of caffeine in chocolate.

As with most things, it is recommended that everyone eat chocolate in moderation. Although, there is thinking that small regular amounts of chocolate could provide health benefits to the consumer. However, most of the research involves extracting chemical compounds out of chocolate and giving potential patients large amounts of those potential beneficial chemical compounds.
